Rick Phillips for U.S. House of Representatives IA-02

The Swamp Fox

Marion County received its name from South Carolina Brigadier General Francis Marion of the Revolutionary War. During the war, Marion earned the name Swamp Fox for his unorthodox and irregular way of conducting himself as a military leader. Washington D.C. is a swamp complex that's usurped too much power. President Trump has invaded the swamp and needs a House that will help meet his objectives that means less power for establishment elites and more power for the People. I will work with the President in meeting that objective. Drain the Swamp!

The Candidate About Personal Rights

The only Rights recognized by our Founding Fathers were our God-given Rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and by extension, the Bill of Rights. The duty of the federal government is to protect those rights equally for all. Identity politics create extended rights for some that only lead to division, strife, and unequal justice for others. All American citizens have equal value.

Candidate Rick Phillips is an American Patriot.

Rick ran for the U.S. House once before in 1996 when Marion County was part of old district 3, but losing in the Primary Election to Poweshiek County Attorney Mike Mahaffey from Montezuma. That year Democrat Leonard Boswell won the seat. Rick served on the Poweshiek County Central Committee as a precinct captain of Sugar Creek Township from 1996-2002 and was a delegate to the GOP State Convention in 2000. He ran for Mahaska County sheriff in 2004; winning the Primary Election but losing the General Election to Chief Deputy Paul DeGeest. Rick has voted almost every election since 1980 when Ronald Reagan was elected president his first term. In 2010, Rick attempted to get on the ballot for Iowa governor as a Constitution Party of Iowa candidate. The goal was to gain 2% of the vote allowing CPI an automatic place on the ballot and recognized as a political party each election cycle. That effort failed.

Rick has been self-employed most of his life as a vacuum cleaner repairman and salesman, working in Pella as Dutch Town Vacuum. He is also a prolific writer who has written several booklets, including a published book, America's Path To Revival, in 2016. Rick lives with his wife and lifelong friend Charlotte in Pella (Marion County), married on February 4, 1990, in Oskaloosa. They have five children from previous marriages, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

America's Path to Revival

A Must Watch For All Who Want To Restore This Great Nation!

Ideological Crossroads by Rick Phillips

America is at an ideological crossroads today as it contemplates departing from being a Christian nation. The nation was founded with a consciousness of a Creator but because of that, many antithetical ideologies have attacked it like white blood cells on bacteria. Our humble beginnings, built on a biblical foundation, have been chipped away at during the past century, not that America has always been good or right, but that America was an experiment to produce the best of Godly individuals made in the image of God.

The “God-mind” concept, those having the mind of Jesus Christ, has been attacked by a continuous stream of satanic influences ranging from communism to Marxism to Islam. They are packaged in such a way that they seem acceptable to a free society; like political correctness or progressive liberalism or multicultural diversity, all which are derived from cultural Marxism. But, at the core of each, a poison dart of human secularism is hurled to collapse a God-inspired mindset to diminish a way of thinking that leads to better societal life. Only the Holy Bible’s God of life can create, reproduce and transform existing life to receive the gift of eternal life. Only God can inject the virtues of faith and love to sustain a meaningful life. None of the antithetical ‘isms’ offered today are capable of love or faith producing a life worth living. Our Founding Fathers recognized this as they placed the First Amendment first in the Bill of Rights.

Even though Christianity as a fraternity has its internal doctrinal schisms, the First Amendment guaranteed the freedom to choose how one worships God without fear of persecution or prosecution. At the heart of the amendment, the Federalist Papers reveal that it was designed to protect religious liberty within the confines of the Christian religion. It was not so much to protect the atheist and an anti-God bias or other non-Christian religions in a hostile attack upon Christians. Its design was to permit Christian citizens exploration within the realm of the Holy Bible freedom to search out its truths, not provide an adversarial recourse to weaken it.

The First Amendment with all its clauses, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” was entirely constructed to protect Christianity and its organizations. The Second Amendment pertaining to self-defense, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” was placed in direct support of protecting the previous. The government’s sole purpose was to protect the Christian institution and the good works of Christianity, not give anti-Christian's the right to attack with impunity.

If we want to know how to live life, read the Holy Bible left to us by our Heavenly Father. If we want to know how to govern a nation, read the Constitution left to us by our Founding Fathers. Departing from either leads to physical and spiritual poverty. Willful disobedience leads to bondage and national death. If we bind the federal government to the Constitution and our hearts to the Ten Commandments, it would form a more perfect union.
